Grandfather’s Vajat at Gostoljublje

Grandfather’s vajat is the very first vajat from which everything in Gostoljublje, Western Serbia started. It was brought from the village of Bogdanica near Čačak into the Luković family yard back in 1930 as part of a “dowry.” It was originally built between 1865 and 1870.

At first, it served as a room for newlyweds, and after World War II it was used as a storeroom for food. In 2004, it was renovated into a three-bed apartment, thus opening the door to the idea of the Gostoljublje tourist complex.

Unlike the other, newer vajats, Grandfather’s vajat does not have a porch or terrace, since its rudimentary, original design did not include such a feature.

In Grandfather’s vajat, you will find bed linen, towels, liquid soap, and toilet paper.

During the winter season, Grandfather’s vajat is heated with radiators.
