About destination: Kamena Gora

Kamena Gora is both a village and a mountain in the municipality of Prijepolje. It stretches across a plateau at an altitude ranging from 800 to 1,496 meters, with several hamlets scattered along the beautiful edges of coniferous forests.

The guardian and protector of the village is a centuries-old black pine tree that has stood on a hilltop for generations, symbolizing the longevity of the mountain people who have lived beneath its vast crown.

A legend tied to this pine speaks of its religious significance. Many processions and church rituals were held at the tree, and it is no coincidence that the story says the ancient inhabitants of Kamena Gora, for reasons known only to them, were forced to leave this beautiful place. They carved a hole into the trunk of the pine, placed inside a scroll with the troubles and reasons for their departure, and sealed their fate within the tree.

Nearby lies the hamlet “U brdu,” the highest settlement in western Serbia, inhabited year-round. Here is also our camp, welcoming all who, after rafting or hiking tours, wish to spend the night under the open sky, where on clear summer nights one feels as though a small leap could reach the stars.

🏕️ Accommodation The camp’s lodging is dedicated to tradition and the way of life of this region. In a modern way, it preserves the spirit of the traditional shepherd’s hut (čobanski kućer), once used by shepherds and transported by ox-drawn wagons from place to place to protect sheep from wolves that spread fear in these lands. In addition to huts, we also offer accommodation in rustic log cabins and village houses, giving guests the freedom to choose lodging according to their preferences.

🌬️ Air Spa Kamena Gora proudly carries the title of an “air spa,” thanks to its unique wind rose. This recognition dates back to the Kingdom era between the two world wars. Its location, between Durmitor on one side and Zlatibor on the other, contributes to its exceptional climate.

💧 Water Sources Besides fresh air, Kamena Gora boasts another treasure: its cold, pristine water. With over 100 springs and wells, hikers rarely need to carry canteens or bottles, as pure drinking water is always nearby.
